The Construction

VARIO-GUARD® is a galvanized steel safety barrier, with a unit length of 4.000 mm, a height of 900 mm, and a base width of 700 mm.
Since the lower section is considered as part of the road, the effective base width is 400 mm.
A box beam on top of the unit is connected by SIGMA type posts to the unit base. These posts are bi-directional, and because the system is bolted together they are field replaceable.

The System

The VARIO-GUARD® elements are connected either by bolts or by quick joints.
The system is anchored only at the beginning and the end, and mechanically linked to existing guard rail systems. The system is anchored either by insertion posts, by earth pins or by dowels.
VARIO-GUARD® can be connected to other guard rail systems as well as to MINI-GUARD® or to concrete barriers. On bridges expansion joins can be used.
